The Society meets at “Willandra”, 770 Victoria Road (cnr Willandra Street) Ryde, every month from February to November. Visitors are welcome.
On the second Saturday of these months, at 10 am, a variety of speakers talk about local and Australian history and family history. The meeting usually has a speaker, a discussion or an excursion to a venue of interest to genealogists.
We hold an Open House at Willandra on the third Sunday of each month (March to November) from 11am to 2pm. We have displays covering different aspects of the Districts’ history with photographs and items on display.
The Society publishes a newsletter/journal, The Ryde Recorder, four times a year. It has also published a number of books about our history and heritage.
Our library and archives are open for use between 10am and 2pm Fridays and after the family history meetings on the second Saturday of the month.
We would appreciate help from people interested in historic research to carry out research in various projects. No experience is required, just time to carry out research. Help will be given.
The Society is willing to carry out research in its archives. The research will be carried out by volunteer members of the Society. A fee of $20 per hour, plus photocopying at 20 cents per sheet will be charged, payable to the Society. Members have free access to the archives for their research, but photocopying is charged at 20 cents per sheet.
